Clegg Botanic Gardens

The Jerry E. Clegg Botanic Garden overlooks and runs along side the Wildcat Creek offering a naturalistic setting including prairie and oak savanna restorations, with extensive beds of wildflowers, labelled trees, nature trails, and bridges. Open year round and offers a different experience each season. Open daily until dusk.

Celery Bog is a unique wetlands area where visitors will find some unusual plants and the opportunity to view different species of birds as well as rabbits, opossums and other small mammals. This tranquil spot for wildlife has a 4 mile paved walking trail and a 1 mile footpath with interpretive signs. The Nature Center provides learning opportunities on wetlands and is open to the public Wednesday – Sunday. Educational programs are offered throughout the year.

Prophetstown State Park

Indiana’s newest state park encompasses nearly 2200 acres and opened in 2004. Camping, hiking, birding and biking can be enjoyed.

This park is unique because of the areas of prairie, prairie wildflower beds, and the seeps and fens of the wetlands. Several picnic areas can be found each with their own handicap accessible playgrounds. Four shelter houses. Campground with 110 modern campsites.
Prophetstown State Park in Lafayette - West Lafayette, Indiana
Future plans include the development of a nature center, additional hiking/biking trails, cabins, inn, fishing lake, swimming pool, youth campground and campstore. The park is located adjacent to Historic Prophetstown where you can experience Native American culture and lifestyles and American farming practices and farm lifestyles of the 1920s.

Purdue University Horticulture Gardens and Park

In just under half an acre, the gardens display a wide diversity of plants, including over 300 cultivars of annual flowers and garden vegetables. Visitors can see how cultivars perform in side-by-side plantings featuring many new cultivars.


Purdue University Horticulture Gardens
Since the gardens were established in 1982, collections have grown to encompass nearly 200 species of perennial flowers and foliage plants. Special collections include peonies, daylilies, hostas, spring-flowering bulbs, and ornamental grasses. The gardens are open for public enjoyment year-round, seven days a week. The park is a wonderful place to discover unique and unusual trees and their names. A great way to enjoy nature and add to your knowledge.

Riehle Plaza and John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge



Main and 2nd Streets, Downtown Lafayette

The outdoor plaza, riverfront walkway and pedestrian bridge over the Wabash River offers visitors and residents a place for a quiet stroll and a gathering spot for many community events and festivals. The West side of the bridge opens into Tapawingo Park. Be sure to enjoy the fountains at both ends of the bridge.

Amtrak, Greyhound Bus and CityBus have scheduled stops at Riehle Plaza.

Wolf Park


Visit The Purdue Gardens

Come Howl with the Wolves at Wolf Park! Dedicated to gray wolf research, the park offers a unique opportunity for wildlife education. Learn about the behavior of the main wolf pack as well as the other animals at the park including foxes and the lone coyote. Wolf-bison demonstrations take place on Sundays from May – November at 1 p.m. where wolves are allowed to test a heard of healthy American Bison. Though the bison have little to fear, visitors see how wolves test prey and how bison protect themselves against predators.

Wolf Park is open Tuesday – Sunday afternoons from May to the end of November. Wolf Howl nights are every Saturday night (weather permitting) at 7:30 p.m. and Friday nights from May through November.
