Adams Mill Covered Bridge

Distance: 30 Minute Drive

Built in 1845, this mill was powered by turbines and ran until the 1950s. Around the curve from the mill stands a covered bridge, built in 1872, which was used as a thoroughfare for many travelers. This museum of Americana offers special events, festivals and activities on its peaceful and beautiful grounds.

Fair Oaks Dairy Adventure

Distance: 45 minutes drive north on Interstate 65

The Dairy Farms of Fair Oaks is one of the largest dairies in the United States with 24,000 dairy cows living in eight different sites. The center tells the story of modern dairy farming and dairy processing, using more than 30 interactive displays and a 14 minute movie. An optional 45 minute bus tour of the dairy operations is offered each hour. There is also a souvenir shop with all sorts of cow-related items, a cheese shop, plus the café and ice-cream parlor. Combine a stop at Fair Oaks with a stop at Historic Prophetstown to compare modern technology to old-fashioned farming techniques.

Indiana Beach Amusement and Camp Resort

Distance: 45 minutes northeast of Lafayette

Built on the Shores of Lake Shafer Indiana Beach, the largest privately owned amusement park in the state of Indiana. Ride, swim, camp, dine or dance. Home of The Hoosier Hurricane, Indiana’s fastest rollercoaster. The water park features sand beach swimming, six water slides and tubing on Action River. Admission charged.

Distance: 1 hour drive south on Interstate 65

The state capital is home to a variety of group-friendly attractions including such delights as the world-renowned Children’s Museum, the Indianapolis Zoo & White River Gardens, the new Indiana State Museum and the NCAA Hall of Champions. And let’s not forget the infamous Indianapolis Motor Speedway with races that include the Indy 500, the Brickyard 400 and the Formula One. Wabash & Erie Canal Interpretive Center

Distance: 30 minute drive northeast on State Road 25 North

Located in Canal Park along a section of restored canal, this new interactive Museum tells the story of the building of the Wabash & Erie Canal and how it affected Indiana and the local area during its 30 years of local operation. The Wabash & Erie Canal was the second longest canal in the world; the Grand Canal of China was the only one longer. Canal Park also has a historic village that is open for special events and programs throughout the year. Over 7 miles of historic trails have been developed for walking and biking; these include three National Register Sites connected with the canal.
